Kyle Koenig, CSP, EMT

M.S. Occupational Safety and Health

With a background as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and former combat medic, I’ve spent over a decade deeply immersed in the field of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS). My career began at 18 at Michelin, where I first discovered my passion for promoting safety and protecting the environment. My commitment to safety led me to serve as a combat medic in the Army National Guard, including a deployment in the Middle East where I had the honor of being the lead medical instructor for coalition forces.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work as an EHS Manager for a tier 1 automotive supplier and as a Regional EHS Manager for a company specializing in hazardous spill response and environmental services. These roles have taught me the importance of teamwork and adaptability in ensuring workplace safety and compliance.

I’ve also been fortunate enough to attend leadership classes led by Jocko Willink, which have enriched my approach to leadership and team management. As a Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED instructor, I’ve enjoyed teaching others vital skills that can save lives.

My experience includes leading ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 audits, which has been a rewarding part of my work in helping organizations maintain high standards of environmental management and occupational health and safety. Consulting has allowed me to share my knowledge and experiences, hopefully making workplaces safer and more sustainable.

M.S. Information Science & Data Analytics

With 17 years of dedicated experience in information technology (IT) management, I have developed a robust skill set that includes knowledge management, technical content creation, IT infrastructure, risk assessment, and both application and web development. My career is marked by 14 years (and counting) of distinguished uniformed service in the US Army, where I currently hold the rank of Major.

Throughout my military career, I’ve specialized in HAZCOM, corporate strategy, and planning, leveraging my skills to enhance operational efficiency and safety. I’ve served in key roles, including as a safety and environmental control officer for multiple military units, bringing a focused approach to safety and compliance. My expertise in the safety field is further underscored by my previous certification by the DoD as a HAZMAT technical transportation certifier, authorizing me to oversee HAZMAT shipments across truck, rail, air, and vessel modalities.

A highlight of my service has been commanding an Advanced Individual Training (AIT) company in the Army, a role that demanded exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and a commitment to the professional development of new soldiers. This position allowed me to directly impact the next generation of soldiers, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in their military careers.

My journey through the intersections of IT management, military service, and safety regulation reflects a comprehensive career dedicated to excellence, innovation, and leadership in every endeavor.
