Overview:
Participants in this course will learn practical skills through a blend of theoretical instruction, demonstration, and hands-on practice. The curriculum is designed to empower individuals with the knowledge and abilities to provide immediate care in cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will:
- Understand the Chain of Survival: Learn the critical actions that improve the chances of survival in a chain of emergency care that includes early recognition, CPR, and rapid defibrillation.
- Perform CPR: Gain the skills to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants, including how to assess the situation, provide chest compressions, and deliver rescue breaths effectively.
- Use an AED: Learn how to operate an automated external defibrillator safely and effectively during a cardiac emergency for victims of all ages.
- Provide First Aid: Acquire the knowledge to respond to and manage an illness or injury in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. Topics include treating bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock, and other first aid emergencies.
- Choking Relief: Understand the procedures for relieving choking in adults, children, and infants, using back blows and abdominal thrusts.
- Prevent Disease Transmission: Learn precautions to prevent disease transmission while providing care.
- Emergency Preparedness: Discuss the importance of being prepared for emergencies, including having a well-stocked first aid kit and formulating an emergency action plan.
